Into Texas

Entered the Lone Star State today!

Mule friends Donna and Jackie Bryant have been expecting me and arrived this morning in Vivian LA, hauling Donna's mule Jab so she could ride with me the 18 miles to thier ranch near Bivins, TX. Jackie hauled Walter's packs ahead to their place, Half-Ass'd Ranch.

No packs today! Yeah!!

Halfway there the road signs changed from triangular to square, from parish to county, and we were in Texas. Woohoo!!!

It's hard to describe the feeling of having successfully travelled from one state, across another, into a third. It was an unexpected euphoria. Unexpected because I have not consciously thought of the ride as a goal to be achieved, measured in distances... it's more of a pigrimmage through an eternal now.

Waving goodbye to Louisiana

Waving hello to Texas
